Forget Paris – Travel Trends 2011
While I don’t have a crystal ball, I travel constantly and have people calling me every day telling me where they want to go. As CEO of Elite Travel, it’s my job to know what people want and how to give it to them in style, whether it’s a romantic vacation, a pulse-raising adventure, a corporate trip, or a luxurious getaway. I foresaw the Destination Wedding trend before it was in vogue, and now I’m making my predictions for 2011. Hold onto your suitcase because it’s going to be a wild ride.
More Bang for your Buck
Of course, the economy will continue to drive travel trends in 2011, but wallets won’ t be quite as tight. “Staycations” are out, but shorter long-weekend style trips are taking their place. More people are staying close to home and taking more short trips instead of one large trip abroad. Fortunately, here in Florida we have all of the American South and the Caribbean nearby – hopping over to a tropical island is as easy as spending a few days in Savannah, Georgia, or Charleston, North Carolina.
